WHERE BLOOMS BECOME SPELLS

Born from a love of backyard gardening and arranging flowers for friends, our journey began with a simple belief: that flowers are the ultimate ritual. We choose every stem not for its perfection, but for its character—the way it curves toward the sun or holds the memory of a season. Today, our studio serves as a sanctuary where we create living spells for life's most sacred transitions, celebrating the untamed beauty of our human journey through the natural world.

OUR APPROACH TO
FLORAL MAGIC

THE cottage CUTTING GARDEN

Our designs begin with flowers from local farms and in the soil of our backyard  garden near downtown Tacoma. We strive to grow heirloom varietals that add an old world feel to our arrangements.

SEASONAL FOCUS

We honor the wheel of the year, primarily working with what is currently in bloom. We source from our own cutting garden and from farms both local to the Tacoma area and around the pacific northwest.

FOAM FREE DESIGNS

Respecting the hedgerow means protecting it! We exclusively utilize sustainable, foam-free mechanics and only reusable and compostable materials, ensuring our floral art leaves no trace behind but the memories of its beauty.

Hello

I’m Tara, the founder and designer at Hedge Witch Floral, and nothing makes me happier than playing with flowers. There’s a special kind of magic in creating something with a life all its own and I find that ritual always has a way of  reconnecting us to the wildness within ourselves, much like the magic of the witch on the other side of the hedge.

In days gone by, witches lived outside of the village, just beyond the hedgerows on the edge of the wild and unknown. These witches often served a dual purpose as healers or cunning folk, spending their days gathering herbs and plants in the woods and fields.

I like to think of myself as a bit of healer and in my work as a therapist, I've had the honor of supporting folks as they move through the most wonderful and the most challenging seasons of their lives. Bringing that deep experience into floral design lets me create not only beautiful arrangements, but also intentional experiences that use our connection to nature to celebrate, process, and heal.

I pull inspiration from my New England roots, Pacific Northwest landscapes, Celtic rituals, gothic romance novels and a little dash of witchy magic.

I love collaborating with folks and making floral magic happen  to honor whatever life event you are moving through.
